Obituary for Jatinder Singh Samra
On the morning of September 26th, 2020 Jatinder Singh Samra, loving husband and father of three children peacefully passed away at age 71, with his wife and two of his children by his side.
Jatinder was born on January 1st, 1949 in Jalandhar India to parents Sohan Singh Samra and Karma Kaur Samra. He immigrated to Canada in 1970, calling Canada home for over 50 years. He married Gurpreet Kaur on January 16th, 1977 and raised three beautiful children, daughters Jasmine, Jaskiran and son Amar.
Jatinder had a true passion for family, life and travel. He lived a life full of compassion for others and with a big heart. He will always be remembered for his willingness to give a helping hand to others no matter the circumstances. He enjoyed celebrating life’s moments big and small by bringing the family together throughout his lifetime and had a great curiosity to see the world with his family through travels. His strong commitment to equality and social justice led him to serve as a Union Leader for several decades and serve as a Board of Referee for Unemployment Insurance, living a life in full service of others.
Jatinder is survived by his wife Gurpreet, his three children Jasmine, Jaskiran and Amar.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday October 12th, 2020 at 1pm at Ajax Crematorium & Visitation Centre in Ajax. In lieu of flowers please donate to Yorktown Family Services or a Charity of your choice.
