Obituary for Lola June Wilkinson (Jones)

WILKINSON, Lola June (nee JONES) Passed away peacefully at Fairview Lodge Long Term Care, Whitby, Ontario on January 15,2021 at the age of 93 from complications resulting from a fall. June also struggled with Alzheimer’s for some years. She was predeceased by her husband George Sr and her sister Dorothy. She was mother to her 5 loving sons, Stephen (Jackie), George (Anne), Tom (Joan), Bill (Michelle) and Chris (Mary Anne). She was grandmother to Andrea Przybylo (Paul), Danielle Oosterveld (Jason), Jaime Bawcutt (Paul), Katie Wallace (Scott), Betty (Kenny), Don (Leena), Katherine, Samantha (Eric), Jessie (Aaron), Callie (Jamie) and Brett. She was great grandmother to Ava, Lauren, Hank, Charlie, Mason, Sophie, Grace, Rowan, Emily, Madison, Mason, Marshall, Delilah and Evelyn. June was born in Toronto and had to abandon high school in order to help support her family. For many years, she was a stay-at-home mom raising 5 boisterous boys. Upon her move to Edmonton and after the family had grown, she began working at Woodward’s Department Store where she relished being back in the workforce. June and George retired in 1985 to Meaford, Ontario where they enjoyed the balance of their retirement. After George’s death in 1998, June moved back to Markham Ontario to be closer to her sons. June always enjoyed bridge and curling but above all June loved to walk. Walking was her passion and she inspired us all. June will be cremated in a private ceremony at the Ajax Crematorium & Visitation Centre but a public celebration of life will be held in the spring or fall depending on the status of Covid-19. The Family would like to thank the staff of Amica at Unionville and Fairview Lodge Long Term Care for the excellent care and support of our mother during the last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the Family.
