Obituary for Mary Humphrey

Mary Patricia Humphrey (nee Hughes) was born the daughter of the late Stephen Hughes and Violet Hughes. Born February 8, 1948 “Pat” as she was best known as was born in Redditch, England. She attended the public schools of St Georges and Lodge Park high school. Pat professed at an early age school was not for her and we were often told of her antics while in school. Pat was the youngest of three sisters and one brother who she loved. Pat married March 21, 1964 to Horace Humphrey till July of 2007 when Horace passed away. During this time Pat had two children Kevin and Michelle who she loved unconditionally and when the children married Angela and David also became the biggest part of her life. Pat was a hard worker and terrific Jive dancer with Horace. March 29, 1975 Pat and Horace emigrated to Canada with their children. Working in the hotel industry early on Pat would later join Horace at Snap On Tools in the assembly division as an assembler then later as an Inspector till the plant closed down several years later.
Pat never went back to work as her time was taken up by the new love in her life which was her grandchildren
Zachary, Rachel, Marisa and Nicholas.
These kids were spoiled rotten by Pat and Horace and no need was too big if called upon to help the kids. Later in life with the grandkids growing up fast, Pat found more time for herself. Bingo, a little bit of Casino, Cards, Puzzles, and lotto would take up the spare time she found. Birthdays, Holidays were also fun with Pat we got to see again her spoil the kids rotten. I remember one Christmas she was scratching a lotto ticket and all of a sudden yell “get me a shandy!” We all then got excited as we thought she won a big prize on the scratch ticket turned out not a winner so she was never able to live that one down. Pat was a good cook and we all looked forward to holiday meals she prepared, especially the stuffing she would make. Due to failing health Pat spent more time at home, but never stopped loving and caring for us all. Pat will be missed dearly but we will all meet again in time. Put a pack of Smokes in the casket for you Mom just in case they let you smoke in Heaven.
