Obituary for Robert John Hennessey

Mr. Robert John Hennessey (Bob) passed away peacefully In Ajax Pickering Hospital After a courageous battle with liver cancer at the age of 61. Robert’s courageous fight was inspired by the love of his family and the example set by Paula’s niece McKenzie Fraser.
Bob was the beloved husband for 36 ½ years to Paula Hennessey (nee Fraser). Loving father to Meghan Hughes (Brandon), Matthew Hennessey (Jessica) and Erin Hennessey. Much loved Granddad to Kaylie and Kelsie (Chubz) Hughes. Bob is survived by his siblings, beloved brother Bernie Hennessey (Lisa), nephews Michael and Zachary Hennessey, Lynne Fox (Ross) and Brian Hennessey. Beloved son-in-law of William and Irona Fraser. In addition to immediate family Bob is survived by sister-in-law Nadine Donohue (Philip), brother-in-law Spencer Fraser (Christine) and nieces Melissa, Taylor, McKenzie and Paige.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert John Hennessey SR. and Joyce Hennessey (nee Anthony).
Bob had many adventures with school friends Chip, Nick, Tails and Curley. Bob had an incredible sense of humour which was inherited by his children and grandchildren.
After graduating high school Bob worked for Burndy Inc. as a production mechanic moving his way up to supervisor where he travelled to Switzerland as part of his job. Eventually due to his hard work he earned a patent in his name for an invention. It was here that he met his long-time friend Bob Kite. The two enjoyed the sport of fishing and Nascar races together for many years. Robert then went on to a career at Amphenol Canada where he had the opportunity to spend time working in China where his job eventually went to. Afterwards he went on to have careers as a steel forger and roll former.
Bob enjoyed watching his children excel both academically and in sports. He helped to coach his son Matthew’s soccer and hockey teams. Bob spent countless hours driving his eldest two children all over Southern Ontario and to the United States to play soccer and hockey, often missing precious sleep-in order for them play the sports that he and they enjoyed, and he never complained!
Bob loved golf, fishing, NFL football, hockey, music and Nascar. Bob enjoyed travelling to Bristol Tennessee to both visit his daughter and her family and to take in Nascar races.
Bob and his close long time school friend Rob Bishop shared their love of the NFL taking in many games both live and on tv.
One of his favorite past times was to play the guitar, a talent he shared with his daughter Erin and granddaughter Kaylie.
He was a perfectionist at everything he did. He was handyman and an avid fisherman, a sport he also enjoyed with Paula and Matthew.
He will be sorely missed by his dogs Titan and Emmy Lou.
