Obituary for Sadhu Gupta
Sadhu Ram Gupta was born on Feb 20,1934 in Gharaunda, Haryana, India to late Sri Dhanpat Ram and late Srimati Gahnpati Devi Gupta. He is predeceased by six siblings. He was a very bright student, winning state mathematics awards in Punjab and Haryana.
Mr. Gupta earned a Masters degree in Math and English, and met some of his best friends during his college years. He immigrated to Canada with his late wife Sudha and four children in 1965. They lived in Liverpool, NS, Burlington, ON, and Quebec City, QC. He worked as a school teacher and retired after 35 years. After retirement, he and his wife Tara settled in Ajax, ON.
Mr. Gupta enjoyed travelling, playing cards, and reading. He was an avid fan of hockey and cricket. He also cherished meeting and socializing with his friends both in Canada and India. He is survived by many dear friends.
Mr. Gupta is survived by his adoring wife Tara Gupta and remembered fondly by his loving children (with partners) Rashmi Gupta (late Dr. PK Gupta), Dr. Rama Gupta Rogers (Matt Rogers), Mona Gupta (Mario Lapointe), Anil Gupta, Vikas Sachdeva (Ashima Sachdeva), and many nieces and nephews in India.
Mr. Gupta is survived by several grandchildren (with partners), Sweta Mohan (Ashwin Mohan), Kalvin Lapointe (Roxane Beauchamp), Prateek Gupta, Jeremy Lapointe, Emily Gupta, Sarah Gupta, Christopher Rogers, Vatsala Sachdeva, Olivia Rogers, Rajeev Gupta, and Meera Sachdeva. He was known to them lovingly as Nana or Dadu.
Emily remembers how considerate he was, “for as long as I can remember whenever I would be coming over, he and Dadee would make sure there were fresh apricots in the house because he knew they were my favourite. It’s a little thing, but I remember being so surprised when I found out, because I thought they just had them. I had no idea they would go out of their way to have them for me.”
Mr. Gupta passed away peacefully at home due to natural causes on February 24, 2021.
